I finally bit the bullet and pulled the liners on
my old Fordson. I took advice on this list about making a puller.

There was some corrosion but the real problem could be a real problem.

The liners had been done at some point in the past but done badly. They must have been driven out form below with a steel bar or drift.

In the process one cylinder has a small section of
flange above the grove that takes the liners seal is chiped off.

Can I fill this with something? Can I just put it all back together with new seal and hope for the best?

Mark

Are you in Australia (looked at your email address). I am sure you can pick up a block cheap at a wreckers. I would not waste new parts and a gasket set on a suspect block. It could end in tears.

Yes WA I'm pretty sure it was your advice on the oil in the water problem and specs for a home made puller that I followed. You were quite right they were in pretty tight.

What do you think a block would be worth. The
only local wreckers is close to the ocean just a few miles.
I'm a bit concerned any block there could
be a bit of a lottery.

Any ideas on a reliable wreckers in VIC or NSW
