First of all thanks for all the help.. I checked the hydraulic oil and it is full and clean. Tried draft and position control. No luck.. Have removed the top plate lift assembly (heavy!). Nothing appears bent or missing. there is a pin I think that is called the cam follower. this is worn 1/2 way through. I don't think that would affect position control though only draft control?? Possibly there is a piece of something in the control valve that is makng it stick.?? I did find the top link control spring was screwed in very tight (the big external spring)could that be out of adjustment (is there an adjustment?) former owner may have "tightened it" I will disassemble and clean (without changing adjustments)replacing all seals gaskets etc. and hopefully I will find something, any ideas? I will let you know how things turn out ..... ....

Suggest you replace that cam follower as well. It made all the difference to my lift - ie it started working all the way to the top in position control. The thickness of the pin determines how far up the implements will lift. if it is worn half way through then the arms won't start lifting until the control lever is well advanced along the quadrant, and only the top part of the lever movement will actually lift the arms.
