I need a replacement power steering cylinder. Mine developed a leak and when I tried to have it serviced the shop could not get it apart to put in new seals and now it is worse, almost impossible to steer.

I have been trying to get a working cylinder for about a year now. My original had been butchered pretty bad but I got it apart. Found some small spring washers missing which I have been unable to locate. Bought another cylinder which doesn't work. I am sure a really good repair shop should be able to repair your cylinder if the major parts are all there. The I&T manual has a good description of the internals and most seals are available from Ford/New Holland.

Try looking in a forklift
salvage yard. Early model
Yale, Clark, Towmotor and
other older American made
forklifts in the 4000 lb
and a few 6000 lb units had units that will work.
The rod ends may need to be
altered though. These cylinders
can be had for $25. USD up.
Now some of these come very
close to fitting and modifications
may need to be made. But unlike
the rare Fordson part, that was
offered to me for $800 USD, there are
1000s of these available. Just make
sure you get the model of what
it came from for future parts reference.
