Dear all, when I purchased my dexta it did not have any stabiliser bars or chains fitted. It reduce lateral movement of implements I have decided to purchanse and fit a set of universal chain stabilisers as sold by bareco (picture on www.bareco.com.au).

What I would like to know is where do I mount the chains to on the lower lift arms? If I mount them to where the yokes attach for the lift assembly I think the chains will be too short. Do I have to drill new holes towards the rear of the lower lift arms?

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Damon

That's what I had to do it works really good to.Use a 1/8 drill bit first then go the the size of the mount you are going to use. I think they are 3/4, but don't hold me to that. Burrhead will know. See ya.

Capbuster, where did you drill the new holes or is the position not extremely vital?

Burrhead,
are the chains you have pictured the internal check chains (run from brackets near the PTO shaft to arms) or external stabiliser chains. The ones I paln on fitting are shown on the link below

I put the internal pto brackets Damon.

When I tried the external it was too much hassle for me to get the sway out and still have enough lift.

With the external I could'nt get the rear wheel off the ground when I had my bushhog floating.

The internal is agravating because I have to slip the clevis to widen the arms when hooking different implements but the plus side is the higher lift and less adjustments.

I used 5/16" chains and grade 5 bolts with 1/4" angle iron for my arm anchor hitch.

Burrhead,
I have the internal check chains but they are not the type that are easily adjusted. I will try the external type as they are pretty well standard on newer tractors and I like the ability to easily adjust between implements. I will see how I go.

Thanks,
Damon

I got both on my tractor and they work real good. There's a hitch pin on the underside of the bracket for the fender and come down the arm to within 6 or so inches to the end and drill you a good hole. Be sure you drill it so you have a perfect hole, and unperfect hole will make it a weak spot on the arm. I made my stabilisers and when I need to spread em out a little I just unhook one, put my plow or disk or whatever on and then unhook it back up. I have had great success with this. I could send you a picture Damon if you'd like.

Capbuster,
for some reason my tractor doesn't have the brackets under the mudguards for the stabiliser chains so I have had to by them. Hopefully I will get all the bits this weekend and then have a look at putting it all together. I have a chisel plough that likes to swing into my right rear tyre so I have to fit the chains.

Thanks,
Damon

Mine has a short piece of 3/8 angle iron mounted to the same bolts that holds your fenders on, with a hitch pin bolted through a drilled hole. Hope this helps.
