Sediment Bowl

The sediment bowl on my 25 Model F is leaking. Instead of the conventional plug at the bottom of the bowl, someone (years ago) substituted a large cut-off bolt. Not being a purist, I'm OK with this if it doesn't leak. It hasn't leaked until now. Have tried teflon tape and a variety of gasket combinations with no luck. Am considering using RTV or some silicone type bead around the bolt head to seal it in. Will RTV hold against fuel?

At any hardware store or a TSC store you can buy the right drain tap for it "1/4" inch and with a little tefflon tape it should be a seal for you. WILL

Will,

Thanks. Think I finally got it taken care of. Used a bunch of teflon tape and some Permatex thread seal and it's been holding for 6 days now.

Not sure about the rtv but possibly an oring around the bolt might work. I am not familure with what you are working on so this just a wild guess.

Don,

Already tried the O-Ring along with the gaskets. No dice.

I used the red silicone on my dexta combustion chamber covers. I also put it on the copper washer on the injectors, I let it dry over night and it worked like a charm.
