Tractor runs but will not hold a constant throtle position. Will not idle. when load applied engine rpm drops. no excessive smoke .adjust throttle to fast idle and it will run but if you try to move tractor it will almost stall.I didn't think it possible to repair without the proper eqmt.to re calibrate pump.Someone suggested statelinedeisel.com i think I'll have them rebuild for me. thanks for your response.John

The problem could be in the governor. I'm seriously suggesting that you check the governor first and then continue with the pump. It's much cheaper to fix the governor.

John, I agree with JPD, there is I guy out here by me that had similar problems, he replaced the pump only to find one of the air lines between the intake and the governor was cracked from vibration.

I hope I can help a little. My major had been sitting for 20 + yrs. It started and ran very poorly on 1 cyl opened then lines at the injector no fuel on 3 thought the worst at first. took the cover off the side of thwe pump and found 3 lifters rusted solid. A can of PB Blaster and a rain gutter nail (aluminum) for a drift andf it ran great. I also Cleaned the injectors and set pressure like a new machine.
