How can I remove the intake butterfly on my 54 FMD? I want to remove it to clean the intake, it needs it. There doesn't appear to be any screws holding it in place, is it pressed into the control rod?

thanks

Remove the round cap over the end of the shaft. It is pressed onto the boss on the manifold, so you may nave to use vise-grips or tap it loose with a hammer. Under it you will find a cotter pin in the end of the shaft. Remove it and the shaft will slide out. The shaft and plate are notched to hold the plate in.
