Hello All

I am about to embark on the long awaited journey of rebuilding my dexta. My first question(and the first of many Im sure)is the rebuild kit says it converts the smaller engine (142 cu.in.) to a larger one(152??cu.in.). Will this require boring of the block to install the new sleeves? Thanks Chip

Chip,
It sure will. If you don't intend to set the timing up and all the other things you would have to do, to get a little more horse's out of her, you might want to stick with the original 144 bore. There are many on the board that can give you a hand if you need it, take care and keep us posted.

Iwould prefer to stay with the original size. I m not after horsepower, but the only kit I can find says it converts the engine. Is there another kit to keep it all original?? I m lost all ready. Chip

Chip,
You can find the kit for the 144 perkins almost anywhere. Do you have a Perkins dealer in your area, you might look in the yellow pages or the internet to find one. The Perkins dealer will be the cheapest by far. Need anymore help just holler. Burrhead is the one to ask about this, he's taught me most of what I know. Take care.

Thanks Capp
All the kits I have found convert the engine to a 152 cu.in. even the kit at the dealer said it converted the engine to the larger cubic inch. Thats why I was concerned about having to bore the engine block. And yes Burrhead has got me out of a jam more than once in the past. In my opinion this discussion board is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I REALLY appreciate all your help any more comments or ideas are greatly appreciated. And thaks again. Chip
