I have been reading a few of the posts, particularly Steven B's and having a look at the pictures of his Super Majors. I was wondering out of interest what the raised PTO option means. I have a Fordson Dexta so it doesn't really matter other than interest.

Thanks,
Damon

The early Majors biggest weakness was lack of live hydraulics and PTO. The live pto option only partialy adressed this as the pto engament came before the pto. That means that when the pto is disengaged the hydraulics didnt work at all. This is not the case in the Dexta live pto where the hydraulic pump is positioned before the pto engagment.

In addition to the live pto, the raised pto option provdes an auxilary gearbox mounted on the back of the rear axle that allows the pto to be disengaged with the front pto lever engaged, thus the hydraulics will work with the pto stopped.

This option is IMO vital when using a mower or power harrow/ cultivator as it allows the hydraulic lift to work without having the pto engaged.

Steven,
thanks for the explaination. My dexta don't have live pto but the hydraulics work when the clutch is engaged whether the pto is engaged or not. It sounds like the early Fordson setup is simialr to the Fergie setup with the hydraulic pump being powered by the pto shaft.

Thanks,
Damon
