Hello,

I have a 1953ish Fordson Major Diesel. The rear 3PH assembly is all there but the control is REALLY stiff and the hydraulics are NON-operational. It almost appears if perhaps the pump is broken or ?

It has been this way since I purchased it (4 months ago), but until it warms up a bit from the -25 weather we're getting, it'll have to wait till pring to come apart. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice or tips for things to look for / try out, with this problem?

Also, located here in Quesnel, BC, Canada, parts are almost impossible to locate. Anyone know of a good source of parts for these tractors?

Thanks in advance.

You probably have moisture in the hydraulic oil! It is not visible but has emulsified with the oil. Best thing to do, change hydraulic oil, in spring. For now I suggest you pour a can of gas line anti-freeze (methel hydrate) in the hydraulic dipstick hole, within 45 min. the hydraulics will work. I have been doing this for the last 5 years at the sign of cold weather with no effects on the system. An old farmer, deisel mechanic gave me the advice years ago. Let me know if it works!
