I have an early 50's Fordson Major Diesel that I inherited and would like to determine a fair starting or asking price for it when the time comes to sell it. It's not pretty anymore, most the paint is gone and it's been a working tractor.
Rear tires have lots of tread but weather checked, one is a little larger than the other, front tires ok, 3 point hitch that raises, but drops slowly. Starts good, Never had a diesel before but from what I can tell it runs good with good oil pressure. All gears work good. High & low tranny, No fenders, but possible I may be able to get some for it. Grill is gone and has dents in the front cowling. Other sheet metal is good. Holds anti-freeze & radiator good, shutters good. Wheels good with inside wheel weights.
PTO shaft seal seems to leak & front engine seal drips some also. That's about it in a nut shell I guess. I'm not real familiar with these Fordsons,or the value of them, but it does seem like a pretty stout well built tractor. Anybody have a ball park figure on the value of a FMD as described?

I am in Colorado. I might be interested in your tractor. Let me know when you price it.

I have marked the box so I will get email notification when you reply to this message.

Thanks for your attention;

I have a FMD with backhoe & loader that I am looking to sell soon. Answers as to price seemed around $2000. Of course, location is big.

Thanks for your feedback Jim, As you mentioned getting parts and the price of parts I think might be the biggest draw back to these tractors.
This tractor I am refering to is located in the midwest desert, or otherwise known as Nebraska.

Can't tell you about pricing in the US, but I just paid Aus$2,500 for a FMD that runs well, all in good order except the brakes. In fact, I drove it the 30Km to my home without any hitches. That figure works out at about US$1,500.
