I'm dealing over the phone for a Super Major. Unfortunately, the serial number tag has been scratched and the serial number is not readable.

I was wondering how I could tell the seller to identify whether it has the older Simms pump or the newer Minimec pump? I've never had the opportunity to compare the two so I can't tell him what to look for.

Simms (Vacum govoner)pump will have 2 pipes that lead from the front of the pump to the inlet manifold, one above the butterfly and one below. On the front of the pump is the govenor, it looks like a coffie cup on its side. There is a large nut on the front of this. The manifold has a butterfly and the throttle linkage runs down the right side of the tractor, across the back of the engine block and up to the butterfly on the intake manifold (not unlike a carb on a gas/petrol engine)

The Minimec pump (also has "Simms" on the side) will not have any of the above. The throttle linkage will run down the right side of the tractor and is connected directly to a lever at the back of the injector pump. There is no butterfy in the intake and no pipes connected to it.

Do you know where I maybe able to find a reasonable priced diesel injection pump replacement, or a rebuilding gasket kit or a service repair manual for a (Minimec CAV-England) inline 4-cyclinder pump, # P5159/2 PU, Serial # PU15005. This is for a CASE 1210 / David Brown farm tractor.

Do you have any of these items, or know where I might be able obtain them?

I also could use a service/repair manual for a Minimec Cav 4 injector pump on a Leyland 384 I have. Or if someone has been able to install a different kind of pump that'd be nice to hear about also. I see new unused injector pumps on ebay all the time going for $100-$300. But they are all rotary pumps, :(.

Loyd -

I'm sure you're aware, that you can obtain a rem. pump from several Diesel Injection pump service centers. Although these can range in price $700. and up.

If you need parts, I've found a company in Mendenhall, Mississippi. Their url is www.mylexinternational.com.

They were very willing to sell me the parts I needed. Give them a shot. Also if you need a diagram to order the parts, there is another web site that may send a copy to you. The person I contacted is anthony@midiesel.co.uk (that's right - the U.K. stand's for United Kingdon as in England)

I have yet to have anyone come forward with a manul. I have sent my original to many people on e-bay that were selling manuals or seemed to know something about injection pump.

You're right, most of the pumps on ebay are related to the automotive industy.

Good Luck in your search.
