have a problem with coolant pushing out overflow, seems to be greater when the throttle is backed off as opposed to running steady I believe it is a head gasket or radiator needs redone it doesn't seem to be running hot. Thanks Glen

It may be just a bad radiator cap, seal or spring
in the cap may be bad, also do not overfill the
radiator leave some exspantion room for the coolant.

Just a thought, when you are working an engine the waterpump and fan are runing at a good speed, if you suddenly slow the engine the heat has to be handled by a fan and water pump turning slower. I've seen many engines boil over if you suddenly slow them or shut them down.

Yes Jim is right your head gasket has a small crack in it. If you can acquire the right plug tool you can pressureize each cylinder and watch the pressure go down telling you were the leak is don't keep running it cux things could get worse. Good Luck

I have a 53 gas that pushes coolant out after shutdown (mostly foam) but tractor does not heat. No water in oil either... Could this be head gasket as well? Had rad cleaned, changed cap, removed thermostat, all hoses fine... Always thought the foam was related to the type of antifreaze I was using.

Hi Glen,
I had the same problem with my 57 FMD. I thought it was the rad as well, it wasn't. It was the head gasket. I didn't see any water in the oil and just a touch of oil in the coolant, but the compression from one of the cylinders was escaping into the cooling system and pushing the coolant out the over flow. It will get worse as time goes on and you will start to overheat. Keep your rad filled with antifreeze each time you are done using your tractor, although you will soon not be able to keep up with the spillage (overflow). Do your head gasket as soon as possible. Or don't use you tractor if possible until you have it done. If you need torques or specs, just ask. What make of tractor do you have?
Cheers, Jim S.

sounds like there is a clog in the system some where or maybe a bad head gasket no water in the oil?? you could run some vineagar in it to clean it out and see what happens but if its a head gasket it will let you know fast because the exhaust will smell like it
