I've only had this tractor for about 3 weeks and it does currently run. I am getting ready to replace the cracked Fiber Drive Block and am not finding the timing marks as indicated in the I&T Shop Manual. The ser-no is 1336961 so I know it's a first quarter '55. There is a boss on the oil pan where the timing hole would have been machined but wasn't. And the front pulley is smooth all the way around with no timing notch nor is there a timing pointer on the front of the engine. Did I get the first machine inspected that Monday morning after a 3 day weekend?? I've combed the archives for a similar situation and found none. Someone has filed a small spot on the front pulley and allowed the tip to gouge a corresponding scrape on the timing gear cover. Lining these up will not get the pump drive close enough to adjust. Has anybody else encountered this before? Any suggestions on an alternate means of accurately timing this machine? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Jerry S/W Missouri.

Two sources I know of are: Walts Tractor Parts (www.----- --) in the U.S. and Agriline Products (www.agrilineproducts.com) in the UK. Hope things are going well with your overhaul. It looks like you've got your hands full.

Obviously an earlier model oil pan has been installed on your tractor. They had no hole to access the flywheel timing marks. , since those engines were timed at the front pulley.
