I came across an old fordson in a field in S. Dak while out pheasant hunting. It is small, about the size of a 8N ford. There is a plate on the left side of the "dash board" that lists a bunch of patent numbers, all from 1912. I am guessing the tractor is from the mid twenties, maybe into the early thirties. Seems to be complete but is obviously covered with a patina of rust. This thing would likely be frozen up engine wise. On steel tires. WOuld this be worth persuing as a project, or are parts unavailable etc.

Ken,You have just came across the place most relic's are found.They are definitly worth restoring.As far as being siezed up goes that not a big deal as you'll be tearing it down anyway.Most the time it's the valves that get rusted in the guides.You need to own or have use of a set of torches which will make the job easier as most or all the liqued sprays don't work.I've restored two in the last 4 yrs,a 1918 without fenders and a 1923 with fenders and there's a lot of parts around.If you check out the farm auctions in the area you'd be surprised what you'll find even whole tractors{lots of parts to use and clean up and sell} to generate $ for parts you need to buy,even ebay have parts for sale!.The Fordson you found did it have fenders?The serial # is on the engine block under #1 spark plug, there's a raised piece of casting,just sand it off to read.The price for the beast can be anywhere from Freeby to $300. Good luck!! WILL

Sounds like you found a Fordson Model F, and it is certainly worth restoring. I would check to make sure that the vaporizer (carburetor) is in tact and most other items as they are expensive. Parts are available from Fordson House and Rosewood Machine and tool. You can see some pictures at the following URLs;
