Have just got another Super Dexta. This one has a pneumatic governed injection pump that will not pump enough pressure to the new injectors or the old ones. I have a mechanical governer injector pump that is a good one, what do I need to do to switch them? I know I have to set it up on 20 degrees B.T.D.C.. Is that all I need to do?

Bill,

Don't think you have a Super Dexta if it has a vaccum governed pump. The Super Dexta was fitted with the Minimec pump from the first.

Ask the question on www.fordson.freeweb.nl/home.htm , Oscar's site.

Thank you but it is a Suped Dexta. the ones prior to April, 1962 have the Pneumatic governed type. After April 1962 all have the Mechanicl governed type. I have two others that ar 1964 super Dexta thay have the Mechanicl type.

Bill,

Perhaps they were badged different over there but there was no such tractor as a Super Dexta until after April 1962. The tractor was just a Dexta.

The Super Dexta has a bigger capacity engine. According to Ford Motor Company the first Super Dexta was Serial Number:09B710530 April 1962.

All Super Dexta's had a mechanical governed pump again according to the Ford Motor Company parts list issued here in England.

Perhaps yours was badged different for export. This is possible as Fords did this type of thing.

People are trying to help you! Your tractor may be conglomeration of other tractors so watch out. A lot of peices are inter changeable and this is a good place to ask. So try not to burn your bridges as you cross them.

yeah it will switch- no problem just reset the injector timing and plug the vacuum hole, as to you telling the man to shut up, you may wanna regroup cause he's right.

If it has a pnue gov it is not a Super Dexta.

Bill,

Sorry I did not mean to start an argument but as an ex Fordson dealer in the timescale of the Dexta production I have an interest in all things Ford. All the Fordson data and historical archive research show the PRODUCTION Super Dexta was never fitted with the pneumatic goverened pump.

However there are photo's in the archive of a PRE-PRODUCTION Super Dexta fitted with this pump. The thought on this was that it was a re-touched picture of a Standard Dexta with the new bonnet and cowl painted in for use in the initial pre- release publicity.

It is possible that these photographs WERE of a real tractor. We sold a number of Ford specials over the years from the Ford developement farm that were not the same spec as the production version.

If it can be documented and proved that your tractor IS one of these pre-production tractors it could be worth far more than the normal tractor left as original, and be another bit of Ford history re-discovered.

an argument aint never worth the wear and tear on a hen's butt for the egg.

BUT my local original Ford dealer's shop manual says the same thing mine says--your serial# 09A316987 is a 1961 straight Dexta with the 144 CID engine.

If your flywheel does'nt have the extra spillmark stamped in for the pump update just holler back if you need the info. Your tractor is near enuff to the swap over that the flywheel could possibly have the extra mark
