I just tried to start my 6v positive ground T0-30 and it cranked over slowly and then drained to almost nothing. I was in a hurry of course and did a dumb thing that I had done a couple of times before over the years... I pulled my 12V car up to it and used jumper cables to try and start the tractor. I only touch the cables for brief periods of time. I put + to + and - to - and when I hit the tractor starter a 'pop' came from somewhere and now nothing at all happens. I charged the battery and now the system does not show signs of life. I read 6.8 volts on battery with voltmeter and I again used cables. This time to go from charged 6v directly to starter to see if starter turns over the crank and it does. Turning the Ignition/Light switch does not budge the ampmeter and turning it to the light position does not turn on the lights.
What have I done? I first suspect the starter switch. I then think of voltage regulator and then last the Ignition/Light switch. I don't want to just start buying parts without a good idea first.
Your suggestions are much appreciated.
