A fellow says he has a Ford 2000 Super Dexta that he wants me to come look at. He says it is a 67. The serial number comes way after the 64 model listed on this site and Oscar's. It looks just like a late model Super Dexta.

Where can I find info on this thing?

Could it be that he just has the wrong serial number?

The original "X" series world tractors were called Ford Dexta 2000, Ford Super Dexta 3000, Ford Major 4000 and Ford Super Major 5000.

These were built from 1964 until the "Y" series in 1968 when the earlier names were dropped leaving just the numbers. Leads to confusion in a lot of cases.

The original Dexta ran from 1958 to 1964 with the Super Dexta from 1962 to 1964. These were fitted with a three speed gear box plus high/low and a Ford designed, Perkins built three cylinder, indirect injection engine.

Think your tractor will be a later Ford Dexta 2000.

Last Dexta (all models) was 1964. He must have a wrong number.

I think he's told you the wrong number. The tractor serial number is stamped on the left side of the clutch housing flange and is prefixed by the model number, eg: 957E-68355. The engine serial number is stamped on the left side of the cylinder block. Hope this helps. ^o-^
