After running great I went to restart my tractor and it turned once before freezing up. After tear down I discovered the #4 cylinder liner had fallen it the crank shaft, damaging the liner and halting the movement of the crank. Any ideas why ?

i have had this on a ferguson35 tractor and it is common to sleeved engine there are a cople of things that can be done check the bore to see if it is worn and if the liner may have cracked lenght wise? if this is OK 5 thou or 10 thou washers can be placed under the liners edge to bring it above the block face also locktite or one old boy told me that he would use paint on the liner to fix it in place i have tried all three of these and they work

I don't know what the yuppies call it nowadays but in years gone by we called that *jerking a sleeve*.

Most times what cause it was from galding a piston onto the liner. If the piston did not gald the sleeve has been floating just a bit over time and finally wears down and lets go altogether.

Most times when that happens it's time for a complete rebuild. If you fix just one cylinder be sure to check the other sleeves while it's apart.
