1959 dexta restoration now complete. Thanks to Paul,Burrhead, Stefan, Wayne and others for help often unknowingly given by information placed on fordson website. Any final advice about running in the rebuilt engine?

Only thing I do is crank and let get up to operating temp as I re+re+re+check for oil or water leaks. Then I keep the load moderate for the 1st week or so. Outside of that I don't baby it much once the rings get seated.

One thing I always do is keep a close check on the temp and oil pressure.

Burrhead ,
would you consider shredding 2-3 foot high grass, "moderate" workload?

thanks, david

with a 5' shredder in average grass yessir I consider it moderate,

with a 6' shredder or in very heavy grass I would call fairly hard work.

If you're gonna be shredding as you break in the rebuild I would make extra checks to the engine temp, and I would run the engine in a hard pull for a few minutes (10-15) and then slow down and take it easy (10-15) minutes per cycle.

That hard-easy cycle works best for me on any breakin.
