hi all, wondering if any one would know where to find a rod bolt. i am in the middle of reassembly and my machine shop sent my rods back with a nut either crossthreaded or put back on with trash between the threads. i had to put it in a vise to get the nut off. the threads for about 1/2 inch are messed up. ford/nh says part not available, perkins says my engine ser. # is no good. can i just tell them to send me a rod bolt for a 144 or 152? anyone has any ideas, would be appreciated.

thanks, david

Diesel Parts Of Houston.
1-800-683-4439

If Russ is still there I always have done business with him. He will take the time to get you a good part number or will ship you a part. All I have ever had to tell him was what size the Perkins engine is.

If the toll free does'nt work from your area holler at me Burrhead@bubbajunk.com and I will get a good number for you.

Burrhead ,
thanks a bunch for the number i will add to my list of trustworthy suppliers. i finally after hours of calling perkins dealers got to someone i'm sure is like Russ, he pulled an old parts book took the 3.144 rod number crossed it, and is mailing me one from georgia. it'll be a lot easier and closer to call houston. i used your tips for the rear main seal this afternoon we'll see how i did when she cranks up.

thanks, david

sounds good and good luck with it David.

It gets some kinda frustrating to try and find a part that the dealer is'nt interested enough to look in the book.

The truck parts place I use in Houston is in it's 3rd generation of Mom&Pop. I asked the grandson when they're gonna put in computers like ever body else. He and his Dad both horse laughed and said *NEVER*.

It does help that all of the family there knows the ins and outs of Mack, Cat, Detroit and Cummins. For most parts they don't even look at a book they just go in the back and get the part.
