I have a problem with the cylinder head.On the side of the head there are three plates bolted on right beside the exhaust ports.I decide that these were where the intake would be on a gas motor, mine is diesel. On the front cylinder behind the plate is supposed to be a disc to seal the cylinder, mine is missing and the seat where the disc should be is eroded.Has anyone had this problem before and what would be my options.

you can still order them. The massey dealer can get them for me, but I gotta tell ya; they are expensive. If they are making a seal I wouldn't touch those things. They sometimes warp and it is near impossible to get a good seal again.

If I understand correctly what you are talking about is the pre-combustion chamber cover. It is supposed to be there and the plate has nothing to do with being a gas engine.

You can get the cover plate from a bone yard or from Perkins Diesel. Or if you can't find one then a piece of 5/16" steel cut and drilled to fit will work.

All that cover has to do is form a tight seal to the head so that compression is'nt leaking past it.
