We have a Fordson tractor which has been restored but is again in need of some work. Not seized. We're interested in selling it, but we're not sure of the year. We believe it to be circa 1943. Can anyone help?

The numbers on the block include: E27M, FTD77, 1195751.

Pat, are you sure the casting no is E27M and not E27N. Is the 1195751 a casting no or the engine serial no? If so it could be an E27N Fordson Built in 1951. I am not sure about the FTD 77.

You're right. It's E27N as you suggest. The 1195751 is the engine #. Can you confirm that it is a 1951 model?

We call it a "longhorn" because of the long light extensions. I have not seen any photos that match this tractor. Was there a model of Fordson Major that had long light extensions?

Hi Pat, all of the E27N fordsons had the long light extensions if they had headlights fitted. If you do a web search using "E27N" as the key word you should find plenty of pictures and some history on the old girls. My old E27N suffered the fate of going from a longhorn to a short horn at the hands of my father in the trees many years ago, something I plan to fix after I get her running again. Regards, Frank.
