Hi all, I'm working on a 59' fordson dexta. The initial problem was that the lift had no position control. Worked like it was in draft all the time. I took the top plate off and the cam follower pin was worn nearly all the way through. I replaced the pin, and adjusted it per the shop manual, reassembled it, and still have the same problem. Tore it back down, took the top plate to a friend who worked for ford for nearly twenty years (tractor division) and had him look it over. Said it all looked good, but he tweaked a little and said to try it again. Still have the same problem. Except now, it will work in position control without any weight on it. Pull the lever up a little, the arms will jump up an inch or so, pull it a little more, and the same. Will work like this all the way to the top. Put some weight on it, and as soon as you lift the quadrant lever high enough for it to lift, it goeas all the way to the top. If you put the quadrant lever right in the middle, set the rpm to about 800, and just sit back and watch, it will suddenly go all the way to the top. Then it will change it's mind, and slowly go all the way back down. After it settles in really good, it will suddenly decide it wants to go back up, and away it goes. I took the top back off, and everything seems to be working smoothly when the lever is moved. Nothing seems to be sticking. For some reason I'm just not seeing the problem with this one. Someone tell me what the heck is going on before I lose my mind!!!
