What tractor is this?

I need some help identifying a tractor to be sure that I order the correct service manual.

It is a 3 cylinder diesel with an exhaust manifold that only has two connections to the engine block, as the first two cylinders seem to share an exhaust inlet. There is a plate near the top of the "firewall" between the engine and battery box that says " Ford Motor Company Manufactured under patents of the principal countries of manufacture" or something like that!

No serial can be found, but 9N 543b is found on the right (in reference to the seated operator) hydraulic lift arm.

EnFo is stamped in several places, including the fenders and tranmission housing. 1441671 is stamped on the left side fairly high on the engine block. 957E-7005 is cast into the left side of the transmission housing. 957E-7005 is found on the right front steering arm. L3G is cast on the transmission housing right side.

The tractor has 3 point hydraulics, PTO, no power steering and seems to be a utility style of tractor. What ever it is, can you suggest a service manual to do a clutch replacement? Engine probably needs some work too, as it is hard to start and has only 200 PSI compression.

Any help you can give is appreciated.

There is no serial number in any place on the transmission housing, including underneath. There is, as I said before, a 957E-7005 cast into the side of the housing, but no number at all beginning with a "C".

The firewall tag I mentioned before does have a British indication on it as well. A friend indicated that this might be a Fordson tractor built in England (maybe a Dexta?) by a division of Ford Motor Company. Any ideas?

Tim: You have a Fordson Dexta, as you suggested.
The 957E confirms that. Your serial number is located on the left hand side of the engine on
the flange of the transmission housing. Thanks for posting your message on the Fordson board and
let us know if you have further questions.

What is the proper location of the serial number on the dexta? I have one and can't seem to find all the correct numbers to help me identify the year and model.

Aaron: Look carefully at the transmission/engine housing flange on the left side of the tractor. Your serial number will be handstamped in old English script. If the number begins with 957E you have a Dexta. If the number begins with 09A,
or 09B.... you have a Super Dexta. You may have
to use a scraper and wire brush on the flange to
thoroughly clean it before you can identify the numbers accurately. If it was repainted without
preparing the surface, dirt, grease etc. the number could almost be obliterated without working
at it. If your tractor is a Dexta, your number will be there. The numbers are stamped vertically
in that flange.

It's a puzzle. According to Don, if the number starts with 957E, the tractor is a Dexta. If it starts with 09A or 09B it's a Super Dexta.

My tractor has a chrome strip on its nose, saying Super Dexta, with strips on either side of the bonnet saying Fordson.

The engine number is in the regulation place, on the left of the engine, in behind the exhaust manifold. Down on the right of the transmission housing, is a group of numbers under the logo EnFo, 957E 7005 TS B28J. On the right side of the engine, rivetted to the cowling, is a small plate with almost obliterated B nnnn (a four digit number).

So, is it Dexta or Super? And what year? It looks terrible, everyone has had a go at painting it, there's rust here and there. I have changed all the fluids (some water in the transmission)and it runs sweetly, and the tyres are good.
