I have the numbers off the engine blocks for my FMD and Super Major. The FMD's number is A18X and the Super Major's is L7D. Could anyone tell me the year when each was built?

Cowboy

The FMD A18X is Jan 18 1955
Super Major L7D is Sept 7 1960

These are casting dates, not build dates. Super Majors were built from 24 Oct 1960. You have a real early example. Give me the engine number and I can tell you the build date.

Cowboy, it should be stamped on a pad above fuel injector pump, on block just at joint with cyl head.
