I was hoping that someone could list some or all of the engines that went in the New Majors, or would have the same bellhousings. Steven B mentioned Combine engines but what model and year of New Holland were they? In the USA market there were a few delivery trucks, and I heard of two locally that did. What about marine engines and years, there is one here in a 1957? Serial numbers? I know the oil pans are different due to the wishbone for the front suspension. Thanks.

It was available on a NH model 1400 combine from the mid seventies.

Mark

There is a six cylinder version of the Fordson engine called the 590E, its a 330 CID diesel. Two versions, Mk1 is like the power major 1957 til 61 and mk 2 like the super major, 61 to 64. Later engines are from to 2000E series, beter nown as the "Dover". Four cylinder versions range from 240 to 250 CID, Sixes came as 330 (until about 1968), 360, 365 (replaced the 360), 380 and 360 turbo. Hese engines stuck around till 1981 when they were replaced by another diesel, name escapes me.

All of the Dover engines were in the English D series truck, New Holland and Claas combines as well as marine. I belive some early 1970 US F series buses also got the dover.

Sorry, its Dorset, not Dover. The Dover was the later engine.

Thanks. Dorset Trucks 330, 360, 365, 380, NH 1400 with a 590E motor. I called the local (mostly wheat)combine wrecking yard and of course all they do is JD, Case, etc. He referred me to another yard and will let you know as soon as I contact them if they have any. Any input on the marine motors?
