I am in the process of possibly purchasing a new mower for this year. I currently have a John Deere STX 38. No problem with John Deere or STX 38, but I cannot see spending some $500.00 to $800.00 for a name. In our area a 16 HP Kohler 42 inch side discharge unit, hydromatic transmission is around $1,450.00. While researching I have found several other units that I might consider such as YardMan, YardGuard, Sabre. Has anyone reading this used a craftsman like that noted above, or any of the others listed. I would appreciate anything you may share. I hate to put too much money into a unit but yet want one that will last. Thank you so much for your assistance.

I just recently purchased a new (scratch & dent sale) craftsman lawn
tractor, 20 hp v-twin Kohler, 50" deck, hydrostatic trans. really
like it and have had no problems. I was looking at more expensive
equipment, but short term I couldn't justify the premium. Yes, they
will last longer, but in 5 - 10 years I will replace this one with something
more substantial. I am mowing 2 1/2 acres that have lots of trees.
