I own a similar 1987 Craftsman model. Its a great machine, but the 38 inch deck is a little small. Mine is an 11 hp single model, so its also a little underpowered. I wouldn't surgist puttin on a bagger. The transmission is great though, as is the engine. I had my B&S rebuilt after 13 years and countless hours for my business and rental property. This machine is extremely reliable.

Just picked up one that sat outside 2 years andwas non the worse for it. Except for the real cheap seat the tractor is over engined for that deck(38) and if the motor is good -not noisy the unit should hold up for a few more years. Most all parts still available too. Be sure that the engine has been checked out and no valve seat problems have been repaired if so I would not buy it, mice build nests in thouse things and they overheat and drop valve seats that can be fixed if they were not run for any amt. of time after loosing a seat. If that happened and the valve seat pounded the crap out of the engine block it is junk.
