The only way I can get my mower to start is to jump the solenoid. Turning the key will not turn the motor over. Doe this mean I need a new switch????? or what???

It means that the circuit from the batery thru the key thru the interlocks is faulty. This means it needs service. It is rarely the ignition switch, more often the blade engagement or foot pedal safety switch.

Mine has a 15 amp fuse under the the control panel. It always blows when I connect the battery. Yours might be blown. I also had to clean the commutator inside the starter motor. Thought it was a weak battery, but carbon builds up where the brushes contact. Use two flat pieces of wood like paint stirrers to hold the brushes down while reassembling. My Dynamark has a dead man switch under the seat. If the blades are engaged and you get off the seat it kills the engine. Hope this helps.I need advice on shifter problems in previous post.

Before you replace the solenoid, make sure that when your turn the ignition to the start position you have power on the small tab of the solenoid. If you do, chances are you solenoid has to be replaced. If you don't have power, the problem could be with your ignition switch or the clutch/seat and or PTO switch. Did you check the fuse between the switch and the battery ??

It's probably your solenoid. Or, it could be the wiring, but I'd just about bet that it is the solenoid. SMB
