Hello The Briggs & Stratton engine model 14 is a 5 Horse Power engine.I have several of these engines, three are on Simplicity two wheel garden tractors.I have a listing that will tell what year you engines are.Just E-mail me the numbers of the name tag on the engines,I will tell you what year your engines were made.

Karl, I enjoyed your website. I have a Montgomery Wards Plow-Trac pictured here which I had alway suspected was a Simplicity, but I was not sure. Now I know. It looks identical to your Simplicity VA, though I think mine is a 1951 model based on engine serial number. I'm in the process of restoring it, or at least getting it to good working order. I think the tiller might be made by Gilson, does that sound correct?

Looks like some one made the tiller fit on the Simplicity garden tractor.

It's built for it, Wards sold the tractor as a Plow-Trac (SIM-5828B), and the manuals I have show a plow(unknown model #), a rotary lawn mower (SIM-1344) and a rotary tiller (GIL-5613A). All I have is the tiller.
