Engine Swap

I have a 582 Cub Cadet, 3 sp/w creeper; 16hp B&S twin; 50" deck: AND a 1282 CC Hydro; 12hp Kohler; 38" deck. Both tractors are in excellent condition. I would like to 'flip flop' the engines and decks so as to have the the larger engine and deck pulled by Hydro.
I have not tried, but would expect 12hp not capable of powering 50" deck, especially in tough, field grass and weeds.
Would appreciate anyone's experience and the pitfalls of such a swap.
Thanks, Joe

I would suspect that you are already set up as best you can be. I believe a gear drive would be better for the larger deck under the more powerful tractor for large field areas and heavy grass. The hydro shines on the smaller tractor with the smaller deck in smaller areas where you will find yourself backing, turning, rounding trees, and avoiding other obstacles. Just my .02 Gadget
