I have found a D 12 Bush Hog Garden tractor that is in good shape but I do not know anything about this make. It appears to be well made and has a tractor type PTO and what looks like a 1 point hitch. Does anyone know about this make. Scans of the discussion forums do not reveal much except parts are hard to come by and maybe the engine shaft is weak.

Dear John, I have a D-4-10 Bush Hog Garden Tractor.Parts are hard to come by, but I really enjoy working with this tractor.Mine is a 1965 model and I have a 48 inch snow plow with optional dirt blade and a 42 inch M-42 mower.I just added rear wheel weights tonight to it,50 lbs. per wheel, for roughly $40.00 altogether.I have original owners manual and some updated material that has a little info. about the D-4-12 plus attachments that were available for it back in the mid 60's. Here is some quick info. about your tractor;it should have a Tecumseh- 12 horse- direct gear engine with 4-speeds and 2-reverse speeds. It's ground speed should top out around 10 mph. It's more than capable of handling all ground maintenance requirements as well as it is a very powerful and workable machine to use on a small farm. The D-4-12 as is my D-4-10 is a very well put together and very sturdy garden tractor. If your ever interested in selling it, please get in touch with me. My son and I have a mowing business and it would be a great addition to our business.I hope the info. will help you.Feel free to e-mail me back if you have any more questions about your tractor.I could mail you a copy of my manual since both tractors are very similar.Just let me know.

There is a new "ACTIVE" Bush Hog group. We only have 29 members as these tractors are kinda rare, but I know there's many more out there. Decals are available for many models now. D4-10 owners/parts manual is in files section. Have more data to upload later. Bush Hog Corporation's engineering department is due to have a D4-10 fully restored next month, along with a M42 mowing deck & a M42-A Trail Mower. They are planning on displaying it at their booth at Louisville Ky's National Farm Machinery show in mid February. The D4-10 decals that I made will be on these as they bought them from me. I'm very excited to see my work at the show! I have two D4-10's that I will start restoring later this winter. I also have one 42" snow blade & one M42 belly mowing deck. Below are links to my Bush Hog group & to pic of my D4-10 along with 3 of my other tractors. I have 5 more besides these. Yep, I love garden tractors! If you own or have an interest in Bush Hog garden tractors, PLEASE come join. As few of us as there are, it's a great help to band together for information & sharing stories, info, & pics. Bush Hog Corp is supposed to get me more technical information later on. Much info is lost, but hopefully they will have some my group doesn't have on file.
