either wire goes to eiher hole in the 3 terminal connector plug. That's the voltage regulator that you mention as "electrical box", and the two wires send AC voltage generated by the stator under the flywheel to this "box" where the voltage is modified and converted to 14.8 volts DC.

Since this is alternating current, it doesnt matter which wire goes to which side.

Depending on your connector, it wires up as follows:

Flat 3-pipn connector, two wires from engine go to the outer ends and the middle pin is the output that goes through a fused wire to the Battery positive either at battery or most commonly at the other end of battery cable at the solenoid.

For the three pin connector that is shaped like an "L" the two pins on the wide side are the inputs, and the one narrow side (single pin goes here) thats the output to battery

Once you have it wired back up, you should check for alternator output (stator wires when test meter hooked to them and meter is set to AC volts, should have an output of at least 28 volts AC, and the orange or red wire to the battery should show between 12.6 and 14.8 volts DC current both readings taken with engine running at full throttle.

if you don't have a test meter, you should take it to a shop or have a friend that has one check it out for you.

Hope this helps.
