Can someone give instructions on removing the hydro pump from this tractor? It strated blowing oil from the pump (not crankcase) and I need to remove it for repair or replacement. I'd also appreciate suggestions for repair, will I need special tools, is a rebuild kit available, where would I get a replacement, can a local hydraulic shop fix it (remember it uses motor oil not hydraulic fluid)???

Thanks in advance

I have a Case 448 that I replaced the pump on a few years ago. I pulled the motor and rebuilt it as well at the time so it was fairly easy to pull the pump. If I recall correctly the motor was fairly straigh forward to pull.Just disconect fuel and cables. I think it had a lovejoy connector connecting the engine to the hydro pump so it just slipped out. I bought a new pump from a hydraulic supplier who handled Parker. I did have to machine a new connector on the pump to fit the return line but that was minor.

Bill, unfortunately you'll have to remove the engine to get the hyro pump out. It's almost impossible without engine removal. The good news is these pump can be repaired in most all cases. I had my rebuilt (new seals) at a hydro shop ($80.)On the off chance you're in for a full replacement, I'd suggest shopping around cost will vary from $160 to $400. good luck
