I am thinking of acquiring either a John Deere or Kubota compact tractor to mow a level field, blade off snow from the driveway and do some minor garden work. If anyone has experience with these brands in relation to how I want to use them, I would appreciate your opinion.

Thanks.

Scott, you might want to ask this question over on the compact tractor forum. People over there have a lot more experience with them.

I personally have had exceelent results with several Kubota tractors. They retain a high resale/trade value as well. Another important consideration is the dealership itself. Are they going to be there "down the road"? Do they have competent service people and stock a good parts inventory? Consider their business hours also;can you get parts or service when you need it. These factors are as important as brand. All the compact tractors offered by the "majors" are of good quality, but w/o dealer support you are still limited no matter the brand. My local Cub Cadet dealer has recently invested many dollars to add the CC compact tractor line(made by Mitsubishi). He equpped the shop with all required service tools and sent his best mechanics for training. His reputation is good as a dealer so I may try one of their tractors with my next purchase. The CC compacts have a reputation for excellent reliability and quality.
