The pto on my cub cadet 1000 runs continously whenever I start the engine, I think it is the switch. Would someone help me on this. Thanks.

Eliminate the switch first by disconnecting the wires from it and working it while testing it with an ohm meter ($9.95 at Wally World).

There is a chance that wires have shorted together in the harness, sending juice to the PTO all the time even if the switch is off. Disconnect the PTO wire clip from the tractor harness. Does it disengage? If so and the switch tests OK, there is a short in the harness somewhere letting juice in when the switch is off.

If the PTO does not disengage when disconnected, your problem is a mechanical one in the PTO clutch...misadjustment of the gap and/or a frozen or worn out bearing come immediately to mind.

Good luck. I hope it's the switch...that's an easier fix.
