Fixing stripped bolt in cyl head

Is there a way to successfully fix a stripped head bolt hole in a 8 hp Tecumseh engine? threads came right off on bolt hole is totally stripped out.

Depending on what bolt striped out....Somtimes you can get a nut under the fins and use a longer bolt... I have done this many times... There is about three bolts that you can't do it to...

Go to yer auto parts store and get a Helicoil insert kit in the right size for it. There's another brand called Big-Sert or some such. I always use the Helicoil product. It works fine.

Went back at it and removed a bracket that was on top also the two flat washers under bolt tightened it up there must be a bit of thread on left in hole. Don't know how long it will last like that but it runs again. Now looking locally for a replacement engine 10 hp Tecumseh was standard I guess.

Yep, they are called Heli-coils. Get 'em at any auto parts store, some hardware stores.
