What's a better investment: (1) a blade for my Cub Cadet or (2) a snowblower?

I used the snowblower on my Bolens last year and it is great if there is more than 3 inches of snow. I did buy a cab for this year because the snow does blow on you some. For the days with less snow I am going to outfit my other Bolens with the blade, I believe it will be quicker with less snow.
So, I guess you now have to figure out a way to justify not only a new snowblower and cab, but another used tractor w/blade and weights and chains for both!

I way ahead of you, Ron. I've already decided to get another tractor and follow your suggestion! More is better!

Ther are some questions you must answer in your own mind. do you have hills beside driveway? If you do a blower will be better. Do you have room to push the snow? if so a blade will work. Snow will blow into your face but w/ a little chute
control practice you be able to control that.
Either way you choose I would get chains & weights
You should also have headlites & tailites for your own safety & that of any cars that may come near you when you are out by the road. Is your drive
paved or gravel if paved I would use a blower because with pavement the chain could really damage it with the repeated backing up that the blade useage would require. If your drive is gravel be sure to set the skid shoes on the blower
high enough that you are not throwing gravel that
you will only have to clean up in the spring.
Hope this helps you decide.

I live in the South, so no need for a blower. But I used to fight snow in Illinois, and my Yankee buddies who still live up there agree that if you get a blower, you'd better get a cab, too, cuz you'll be eating snow. The blade makes a nice curl that lands out of your way. Blowers also tend to throw a plume of snow in front of your headlight, making it hard to see if doing it at night.

Now on the other hand, nothing eats a drift like a blower...you'll be backing up and whamming into it with a blade or skimming it, but the blower augers will just grind it up and spit it out. Especially if it's two-stage.

if you have regular deep snow on a regular basis, a blower is best.it will throw it further out of the way...in n ky my 1650 cub gt w/chains is ok...we dont get more than a foot very often..ive plowed 16" before and it did the job but 2 foot would have been to much...a light yt wont do a foot of snow ,,so ,,you have a few things to consider....don s

I get a lot of use out of my snow blade on my Simplicity in the winter. Most of the time you only get a few inches of snow. Also depends how much snow your tractor will push.
A snowblower is good when you get 3 inches or more snow. You also need chains on the tires for good traction.
The snowblower is a lot more money than the blade.
