Just purchased the remains of a "Mustang" made by "Mowett Sales Co. of Odessa Missouri" small lawn-type tractor. Was hoping to find some more info about this tractor. It's small, not much larger than a pedal tractor. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Greg

Anyone want a Mowett Mustang that still runs? in reply to dan and jen, 02-11-2006 12:04:04
I have a Mowett Mustang Mower (yellow body #7) which still starts, runs and suprisingly enough still cuts grass. It's taking up room in my garage right now (not much room of course), but it's got to go. I'm looking to sell this, and of course it would be nice to pass it along to someone who is either a collector or appeciates the little Mowett Mustang.

How much are you asking for it? I could use it for spare parts. We still use ours to mow. Thanks

Hey Greg I also have the remains of a "Mustang" sure are neat little crittera. Just wondering if you have had any luck traking down info on these guys! I am an Automotive tech so anything I can help you with feel free to ask! Even just to talk to someone who has one would be cool. I saw a very similar "tractor" at a Garage sale in Canada almost bought it because it actually still worked, However could not get the funds together quick enough. It was labeled a Sears! but it was identical to the Mustang. I "rescued mine from the dump wear did you get yours?

Just purchased a Mustang for 10 bucks! it is not running, but the engine is loose and it looks complete and in very good shape. Does anyone know how I can find out what year it is and if there are any manuals etc. for these little machines? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Landes

I found one of these in running order at a pawn shop in Ashland City, TN in 1991 for $100.00...I didn't buy it because I didn't have any way to get it home that day and have been regretting it and searching for information regarding them ever since. If you have what I think you have can you send a picture and direct me to additional sites for purchase?

Marv,
Itracked down the info on these neat little tractors by calling every hardware store in Odessa MO. A man who owns the local appliance store there has bought all the spare parts when they went out of business. I have two of these one is in working order, as a matter of fact it still mows good. the other one is missing the engine and mowing deck but all the other stuff is here. really neat little machines. I bought mine from a pawn shop in Foest City NC. for $60. I used it to mow with for a year then restored it for fairs.

I just purchased a John Deere color 8 horse power Mustang mower because it was so cute. It looks like a toy. Does anyone know the background on it. Why it is so small. When it was made, etc. It appears the Mowett Sales Company is still in business in Odessa, MO. I plan to write them when I get time.

Any information would be appreciated.

Dean

I just bought on of these from a sale for £20 engine running but pulleys and drivebelt knackered Now running like a dream thanks to a visit to the local salvage yard. Used a couple of car alternator pulleys and arc welder.Mower blades are gone so great fun for the two kids as a cheap go cart. Does anybody know the years of manufacture bye. Hi: We got our Mustang because someone owed us some money!!! The engine and mower deck work fine, after replacing the belt. Now we are trying to track down some tires. The mower deck sits way too close to the ground, and would like to raise it. Really cute, like driving a go-cart or bumper car. Turns quick. If anyone knows where to find tires let me know.

Gentleman friend and I became the proud owner of a little Mustang. Picked it up at a Yard Sale in Southern Oregon. Sure would like to made a deal on getting copies of the Manuels and any info. you have. Name a reasonable price and send me a mailing address so I can get back to you. This Little Jewel was painted drab yellow and wonder what the original color was or how old it is. Love to hear from you, Charlie

The mustang mower I have was given to me. It is in very good shape with minor rust. I do use it to mow with on occassion. The original color was yellow (almost a goldenrod yellow) which has faided in some spot"s to a drab yellow.

I am looking for any information on the company that made these mower"s and would like to hear from anyone who has one of these. I do not seem to find much on line about them and would like to compair information and photo"s.

I bought a Mustang lawn mower in Germany via eBay and have no documents whatsoever. Would be grateful if you could send me the manual and parts diagram (if not too much trouble), or the most important pages of the above. Expenses will be refunded.
