I have a John Deere 214 with a Kohler 14hp engine. When the engine runs for 15 min. or so it seems to bog out when I engage the PTO. Also it seems to bog out if I rev the engine quickly. This seems strange to me because this engine does not use any oil or smoke and prior to a week or so ago had plenty of power. Could something be going on with the govener? If so where is the adjustment for it. Any info or idea's would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

it could be the points (too close) or the carb might be dirty or gummed up your fuel filter may be plugged or your air cleaner may be stopped up. your governor should not do what you are explaining it would be a constant problem

I know from bad experience that a plugged carb will cause these sypmtoms. A carburetor set too lean will cause both of the problems you mentioned. Also, the points being set with too small a gap will cause a stumble on acceleration. The earlier suggestion to get a manual is a good one.

i would buy a engine manual and go thru the tuneup procedure..it may be inthe tuneup end,,,it may be a compression problem....checked your air filter lately?..... .don

Check compression on cyl. possible valves or head gasket. Good luck
