66 Gilson need info!

I have an opportunity to purchase a Gilson Lawn Tractor (ca 1966). It has 3 blades, hydrostatic transmission and has been gone over pretty thoroughly by my local (semi)trusted repairman. He says the tractor will be good for many more years. I will be using it primarily for mowing what passes for 'lawn'. This is an area of about 1.5 to 2 acres of Texas hill country wild weed grasses and scrub. Most has been mowed previously by lesser machines though there are still a few small cedar stumps and the occasional rock. His selling price is $750 based on the superior quality of this machine over later brands available. The claim is Gilson went out of business because they made too good a product and lesser/cheaper brands prevailed. The tractor is in good shape as I can tell. Should I have
