I used to have a 83' Central Park(made by MTD under a few different name tags) 11 horse briggs 38" riding mower. One night I was in top gear turning around the henhouse and unexpectantly -THUD. The left side front tire and spindle had ripped from the axle and sent the left front nose of the mower to the ground. The spindle was tight but MTD made the front axle and well, the whole mower way too thin(my theory is their metal is recycled pop-cans). I had to reinforce the front with 1/4" angle to beef it up enough to hold, was fine after that. Should of never had to do that! Why coudn't MTD build it right in the first place? Anyone else have this problem? I was glad to see it go, It sold at a auction I took it to for $100. Only paid $20 in the first place. It was in good condition. I will never own another MTD product.

i had to reinforce my grandma's craftsman mower after she split the frame in two where the front axle mounts. MTD and all such brands are made for one reason, to last five years or so and then go to the junk pile. they are not made to grow old.

The Guy I bought it from lived in town and had about a 75'x120' foot yard and bought the MTD new in 83'. So since it hadn't been used very hard at all and never mowed a whole lot, I thought I could get away with a older mower.
