I have the same problem, where is the condenser located? Or where should it be. I have a B&S 19hp (42A777).

Thanks

you will need to change the coil and condenser. that will solve your problems.

A different opinion here! I worked in a small-engine shop for 25+ years. It has been my experience that when B&S condensers fail, they fail entirely. ---- On the other hand, B&S magneto coils had a habit of failing in the manner Scott describes. The testing equipment we utilized would apply a voltage to the coil, causing it to fire across a spark gap. A "good" coil would continue to fire for quite awhile. "Bad" coils would start to fire, but the spark would diminish after 20-30 seconds at the test voltage. ----- -- While Tom & Jim suspect the condenser first, I am more suspect of the coil. If you remove the coil and take it to a small-engine shop, they should be able to test it for you. Of course, the condenser can be changed first and they are alot cheaper than a new coil.

After Scott tells us what the problem was I'll tell you which way I voted. No need for a recount that way.

Ok Rick, I'll mark you as "abstain," then. Roberts Rules of Order, dontcha know. Oh BTW, according to national voting rules, the engine problem with the most popular votes is not the winner. Heheheh.

Very funny. Think Al Gore would share our sense of humor?

I'm glad you liked our lil jokes.

I live in Tenn., Al teaches just up the road from me, and I can assure ya from comments he's made that he has a very balanced and at times humorous take on events. In person, he's not nearly as stiff as the media has portrayed him.

Remember, during his concession speech, he got a big laugh when he said: "It's time for me to go." THAT was funny!

He seems very comfortable with himself and not pining after anything that might have been under a different election system.

Al Gore balanced? He's about as mentally unbalanced as you can get. There are people living under bridges who are better balanced than he is. They just weren't lucky enough to be born with silver spoons in their mouths like he was.
