Help !!!! I was wondering if any of you folks can provide me with the straight dope, so-too-speak, regarding the proper lubrication of the Gravely 42" Sickle Bar (with 13 teeth). I don't have a service manual on it, and have gotten various different answers. The sickle bar consists of, what I call, three different sections: 1) Upper Housing (this is the part that bolts to the front of my L1 walk-behind tractor) 2) Middle Housing 3) Lower Housing (consists of the upper and lower plates that contain the main yoke mechanism, as well as the Activating Lever that is attached to the top plate) The UPPER and MIDDLE HOUSINGS each contain, what appears to be a 1/2" OIL DRAIN PLUG. The LOWER HOUSING has a tiny OIL DRAIN PLUG, located on the top plate. My question is: Do I apply, or use 90-110 weight gear oil, in both the UPPER and MIDDLE HOUSINGS or does one HOUSING utilize gear oil and the other needs CHASSIS GREASE applied, and if so, which HOUSING gets which ??? Thanks for whatever help and input you can provide ! Sincerely, Gravely Owner
