We are looking at buying a Huskee for a small 3 acre farmette we have. We would like a tractor that we can add attachments to. (i.e.. a grass bagger, mulcher, cart, etc..)

Does anyone have any positive or negative experiences they can share with me?

Any words of wisdom on this manufacturer?

Any other recommendations for garden tractors?

Thanks!

Don't do it. I bought a 20hp 46" cut in 99. So the mower would be 3 years old this season. I have actually been able to use it 5 months out of the 3 years. And during those 5 months, you could not change gears, brakes did not stop, just slow up. When tractor supply put it in the shop they kept it 6 months and after a lot of battling, it was under warranty, I brought it home. It then changed gears and brakes stopped, but could on be run in turtle. Taking me 12 hours to mow instead of 8. We now have that corrected with the proper belts, but guess what, it won't stop with the brakes or change gears, while running, has to be shut off, then you might change gears. Can't tell you what is a good mower to buy, Huskee's are not. And from my experience with Tractor Supply, I would say do not buy a lawn mower from them, unless you want to hassle. Mine was a Huskee LE, which stood for limited Edition, and was not made the next year, now I know why. Oh did I mention the front wheel tow in 2 different directions at the same time, out, in, just anyway they want. Have had 6 people work on it, can not be fixed. I bought the bagger with mine. I spent $2000 thinking I would have good equipment for a long time, I am still paying on it, makes me sick to think about it. Found your question while looking for an address to write the company, again about it.

In the end, you will be much happier if you buy a premium tractor. I wont push my favorite brand, in order not to fuel the brand-bashing fire. I will say this. Simplicity, John Deere, Cub Cadet & Kubota are probably the best built. When you get down on your hands and knees and really look the tractors over, the differences are clear. Yes, you can buy 3 cheaper ones for the price of one good one, but in that time, you will spend the last year or two of each of their lives cussing, fixing and looking or waiting for parts for them while if you had bought the better one in the first place, you would be sitting under the shade tree with a cool one, admiring your grass. Buy a premium garden tractor. It hurts a little at first, but then feels better all the time.

My Dad bought a 14 hp huskee from tsc without a road test. After he got it home he called me up and said it would'nt start, can I come over to take a look. Ends up you have to raise the deck the whole way to get the engine started, there's a very ridgid spring you have to overcome to get the deck up to the start notch, in which he was'nt strong enough to do, (76 yrs old). It also vibrated somethin fierce. Also remember somethin about the engine or the blades shuttin off in reverse because it had no override switch. I took it back and got his money back.
Before you buy a huskee check it over real good. If you're mowing 3 acres, I'd recommend stepping up a notch, the Scotts (Home Depot)and the Sabre I think made by John Deere are alot better and more user friendly, or better yet , buy the real thing. I bought a JD 345 in 99, a little pricey but a heck of a mower. Good Luck

i would not buy a huskee from a farm store they do not work on them and they send the work out to some one else and you do not know when you will get it back huskee is the samething is mtd. made to destroy. i wouldnt buy any mtd products at all . they make troy built now and cub cadet. and they have been going down hill ever since. i wouldnt buy anything from tsc. anyway they get these singers on tv. to try to sell products that they dont even make. and most of there products they do sell is not made here in the usa.

I just bought the 20 HP 46" Husky and I am very pleased with it so far. I have an acre yard but this tractor is capable of doing three acres with no problem. I have a 9N for gardening and wouldn't recommend a Husky for this but it is a far better value than a JD or some other over priced machine. You can buy three Husky's for the price of one comparable JD.

I admit, I'm a JD fan, but you need to consider something greater than what was proposed for they will only bring you "head-aches". I have a 345 to mow my yard, which is less than you propose.
Sure the the JD will cost more, but I'm confident you will be happy with the purchase, assuming you go with a better quality mower.

yeah you do have to buy three hushees to last one year compared to a jhon deere. where you pay a little bit more. but they will last longer and perform better. and are more trouble free. john deere doesnt have to hire singers to sell there products. tjhere name and repiutation sells theres. that is why they are the largest maker of farm products. in the world. and one of the best.
