I have a Old Briggs Engine Gold in Color with Easy Spin on it. Rope start and appears to be around a 10-15 HP in size?? What do I look for or is there a number and a way of finding the HP, Year of the engine. Maybe a code number spec. sheet web/site? It is on the Mighty Mite Tractor. Thanks, Mark H.

Should be nubmers stamped on the tin cooling shrouds or tin. Usually on the recoil start housing, near the head, or on the side, but sometimes on a tin panel on the side of the cylinder. It also acts a shroud to direct air flow around the cylinder. Should be a model, type and code #. You can obtain the info you need from those numbers. Might have to do a lot of cleaning off of paint and such to see them...

If the engine was made after 1952 the year of production is indicated by the first two digits of the code #
