Im looking at an IH Cub 1000 from the original owner. Comes with deck, snow blower, weights and chains. In very good condition. All original. What is a very good price for a unit like this. Anything in particular to check for on these? Any known problems? Thanks, John.

I can't tell You what the tractor & attachments are worth... but I can tell you no company makes a tractor as durable as the 1000 anymore! The 1000 is a 10 HP Gear Drive "QUIET-LINE" Cub Cadet that the engine was mounted on a cradle supported by 4 rubber bushings. These bushing wear out and the engine can rock around. That movement causes the clutch disc to flex & crack. Parts are still avail. new or used but I know the clutch disc is expensive on that tractor. The K-241 AS Kohler engine is bullet-proof. The tractor should have side panels over the engine and shrouds over the engine inside the side covers & under the hood. These shrouds should be in good shape too, no cracks or missing pieces. Also make sure the starter engages the flywheel O-K. It's actually a small Bendix type starter like a car as opposed to the Starter/Generator like on the earlier Cub Cadets. For more Info You can read posts & FAQ's at ihcubcadet.com LOTS of good info there.
