I've asked this question before here but I'm gonna try again ... maybe get some more feedback. I'm looking at a Case 444 yard tractor with a belly mower as well as a snowblower attatchment for the front. It seems to be in very good condition overall. I've got a few questions and if you can comment on any of them I'd appreciate it.

1. Are these a good, reliable machine?
2. Are parts readily available?
3. How do parts cost compared to other machines?
4. Any ideas on the price range that a guy might expect?

Thanks for the help.

i have a older case model 130 i do not think they make a better garden tractor after adding a few things to it like wheel brakes for hills you can not bet them for long life mine has ben cuting 35 acres around apts for the last 30 years and have only needed new spark plug ,coil, points and a few belts for the blades in all that time and still dose not smoke so you tell me if its a good one

The Case garden tractors have hydraulic drive, not a Sunstrand hydrostat like ALL of the other makes. The hydraulic drive is extremely durable, but when they do go down, major bucks. If you have hills, stay away from the Case, the hydraulic drive can race away from you going down hills. For flat areas and esp. for tilling, they work great. Nobody has as good a mower deck as a Simplicity.

As far as a snowblower goes you might get a new one from a Kubota dealer for the T1460/1560 lawn tractors. Same unit but with a different mount. Then you would have to go to a Ingersol dealer and get a new quick attach mount and belt. The only catch is it is the 40 inch instead of the 46 that was offered on the 400 series. As you can see, there are all kinds of possibilities including finding one that would fit a Massey Fergensen, which was the Case/Ingersol with different paint and some decals. In my opinion you beat them for reliability for I've had a 446 for over 15 years.

I personally have had no trouble getting parts for my 444, but, I have only needed to get a few parts. These things are built to last. Everything being relative. For the money you would spend on the 444, you will find nothing comparable new. For between $800 and $1600, you can get a 444 that will outlast most of the $2000+ GTs sold in the outlet stores..... .Art.

Alberta Mike....they're a very good, well built, stocky tractor. Built from early 70's to early 80's I think. Parts can be a bit of a challenge at times...usually available at Ingersol dealers in the US and IHCase dealers in Canada. Engine parts for the 14hp Kohler are readily available. Parts are dear but no more so than John Deere. Attachments are another story..very dear..if you can find them. Price is a tough call..depending on condition and attachments, I've seen them go from $600 to $2,500. Hope this helps...bruce
