We recently purchased a cub cadet model 1517 based upon assurances from dealer that blades did not have to be disengaged to move in reverse. After delivery, we find out that the blades disengage automatically when put in reverse. Maybe it was a misunderstanding, but I don't want this feature.

My choices are to return the tractor, which I'd rather not do, or modify it so that the blades don't disengage when in reverse. I realize I'm overriding a safety feature, but it is one I can not have for my application.

Any suggestions on how best to disengage this feature?

I was just surfing the net looking for a service manual for my new Cub 1517. It was purched approximatly Nov.02. I have found that it is a real pain having to restart the blades every time you back up. Its clear that the person who designed it only had saftey on their mind. Early this spring my battery went bad. Now I find it won't even try to start. I am in hopes of getting a wiring diagram for it. I hope others have had better luck than I have. I can't tell others what to do, but I know my (quote) saftey is going by by.
